How It Works

Step 1- Tank Cleaning

To prep your tank(s), our staff will wipe off any markings or dirt on your tank.
This step is required prior to tank inspection.

Step 2 - Tank Inspection

All tanks must be inspected by Rhoads Energy before filling. If your tank doesn’t pass, you can:

Try to re-certify it with Rhoads Energy
Buy a new one

Step 3 - Payment – Card now Accepted

All propane transactions must now be paid for outside. Cash and card options are available for your convenience:
- Cash: $5 per fill
- Card: $5.50 per fill (plus tax)
  - This fee is to cover all credit card fees incurred.
Please leave your tank outside after payment—we’ll have a holding area ready.

Step 4 - Enjoy the Event While You Wait!

Come inside for popcorn, stuff-a-bag sale, and a chance to win raffle prizes.
Grab a hot dog on us at our new deck display.
We’ll fill up to 2 tanks per customer in the order they arrive.
Extra tanks? No problem—they’ll be ready by the next business day.

Propane Weekend FAQ’s

1How many tanks can be filled for $5?

GR Mitchell will fill 2 tanks for you as soon as possible upon your arrival, but we will also tag additional tanks with your name for filling at the promotional cost. These will be ready to be picked up by the start of the next business day, at the latest. NOTE: State regulation prohibits transporting more than 4 full tanks at a time in an enclosed vehicle. In order to act in accordance with this regulation, we can only fill 4 tanks per person, per visit.

2Is this event cash only?

We accept both cash and card at the payment tent for this event. Please note that a 50-cent credit card fee will be added for every tank fill, plus tax.

3What are your business hours for the event?

Saturday, May 2nd 7:00 am – 5:00 pm & Sunday, May 3rd 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

4What if my tank is larger than 20 lbs?

Unfortunately this event is JUST for 20 lb tanks, however you can still fill up your larger tanks at regular retail price: 30 lb tank = $19.99; 40 lb tank = $26.99

5Can I purchase a new tank during propane weekend?

Yes, we stock new tanks. Purchase yours during propane weekend for $55 including PA sales tax.

6My tank is not brand new, will you still fill it?

Tanks must be within 12 years of the original manufacture date and pass inspection in order to be refilled. However, your older tank may be eligible for recertification. Tank recertification and fill is $20.

7What happens if my tank doesn’t pass inspection?

Unfortunately we can't fill tanks that don't pass inspection. We'll have new tanks available for you to purchase for $55 including fill.

8How do I enter the raffle for door prizes?

Head to our contractor entrance to find the entry table at any time during Propane Weekend to submit your free raffle ticket for door prizes. You don’t have to be present at the time of drawing to win, so be sure to include your necessary contact information.

9Can I still make lumber yard purchases on Propane Weekend?

Yes!

10Is this limited to your Willow Street location?
